Joey Atterbury

Joey Atterbury is a professional race car driver currently competing in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, racing full time for Mitchum Motorsports in the #6.2 Chevrolet Camaro GS.R. In addition to the full time Continental Tire schedule, Joey will also be entering several GRAND-AM Rolex Series races in 2011, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona, one of the world?s premier endurance races, in Mitchum Motorsports' Porsche 997 GT class car. This year is poised to be a breakout year as the team spent much of last season developing the brand new Camaro while Joey spent his time acclimating himself to the higher level of competition in GRAND-AM. Joey ended 2010 impressively with three top ten finishes and was the highest points scoring rookie in the GS class, a remarkable start to his professional career.

Joey's began racing in 2007, where he campaigned a Spec Miata in the Pacific Northwest. He earned multiple race victories in regional and national SCCA events and developed a reputation as a fierce competitor. In 2009 Joey moved up to the VW TDI Cup series, where he claimed rookie of the year honors along with his first professional pole and win at his debut at Virginia International Raceway.

Joey recently relocated to Virginia to be closer to the team and spends his time away from the track staying fit and preparing for his next race.
